Bookkeeper Positive Thinking

May is mental health month and with everything that has been happening over these last few months, we thought this would be the perfect time to discuss bookkeeping with a positive mindset. Developing a mindset of Bookkeeper positive thinking will make running your business easier. You will find difficult clients and tasks easier to deal with. Can it really be done?

Our life is a reflection of our attitude, so when it comes to our work life as bookkeepers it is so important to remain positive so that we can support our clients through thick or thin. These last few months have most defiantly been a trial for many of us but one thing has remained consistent for all bookkeepers; we have prioritized our clients. And this is what we are all about and why many of us chose bookkeeping as a career; however, now that things are starting to calm down we need to realign things to ensure that we can continue to be present and support our clients in the months and years to come.

One thing that can help us accomplish this is by changing our mindset. When many people think of having a positive attitude, they typically think it’s little more than plastering a smile on your face and trying to think happy thoughts; but in truth, it’s much more than that. A positive attitude is something that goes deeper and has an effect beyond surface cheer.

Why bother with positive thinking?

This today’s woes, without even noticing, it can be easy to become negative and cynical towards the world as we are continuously exposed to perceived tragedy and injustice. Sadly, by having this negative mindset, you are preventing yourself from fully enjoying life, your business, and opportunities. The energy a person brings with them is contagious and by promoting a negative attitude you are narrowing your focus and mind to all the possibilities that are available to you.

Even if you love being a bookkeeper and supporting others’ business dreams, there are always going to be times when things get a bit stressful or negative. There will be days where you get bombarded by angry/stressed clients, come across support errors, and have feelings of lack of productivity and that’s okay. Although it may be easy to fall into a slump of negativity it is much more beneficial to redirect your mind and focus on more positive experiences. Studies have shown that by having a truly positive attitude your overall view of life becomes broader and more full of possibilities which lead to living your life in a way that makes it natural to be exposed to acquire new skills. Doesn’t that sound fantastic?

While having a positive attitude doesn’t necessarily make you less stressed during times like these, it can equip you with the tools you need to cope with the stress more healthily. By adopting some of the following tips, you can maintain a positive attitude through the highs and lows of being a bookkeeper in today’s environment and hopefully provide you with more confidence to improve your mood to even reduce the likelihood of developing conditions such as hypertension, depression and other stress-related disorders:

That is our take on having a mindset of Bookkeeper positive thinking. Over to you…

Thank you for reading our post. Life isn't easy, as I'm sure you know. By focusing on the good things we have, the challenges we face get shrunk down. The solutions start to reveal themselves, and then actions are taken to implement them. Soon, trials become trophies instead of sources of frustration and regret. Now, many of us have made a habit of focusing on the negative things that life brings our way. And so how to you break a bad habit? Get a good habit to replace it. Therefore, it will take effort, but in time, the good results will come. Soon enough, it will be June 2021. So why not start making the changes now, so that next year, you enjoy being alive and making a difference, more than you do today?

This isn't just wishful thinking. Angie has literally implemented this in her life.

Amy Hooke and her team at The Savvy Bookkeeper have been invaluable to my business especially with helping me change from hourly billing, to offering packages. I also currently attend Co-working Groups which are for 'working on my business'. It's a really supportive and encouraging group, where we can brainstorm ideas, and work on things like streamlining of my business processes. For any bookkeeper looking for assistance in these areas, I recommend The Savvy Bookkeeper.
