5 Tips to Finding More Bookkeeping Clients Online

by | 3 February, 2021 | 0 comments

In recent months, more and more people are looking for bookkeepers online than ever before. If you want to keep up with the persistent shift in trends (and really make an impact!), then it’s critical that you learn how to find clients online.

One benefit of this is a larger audience and pool of potential clients – if you do it right. It can also be more cost effective. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the top 5 ways to find clients online.

1. Identify Your Ideal Client

Before you start trying to attract new clients, it’s a good idea to make sure you know exactly who are want to attract. Who is your ideal client? What is your ideal niche market?

I’m sure that you’ve heard this from me many, many times, but identifying your ideal clients is absolutely imperative if you want to succeed with online marketing. After all, how can you possibly know where to find new clients, if you don’t know where to find your ideal clients in the online space?

Think about what a great client means to you. Is it a certain industry or niche, or how easily you can work with them? Is it profitability, connections, or just their values that makes them a good fit?

Once you’ve identified your ideal clients, it will be so much easier to start marketing to them, and you won’t have to worry about clients being a bad fit.

2. Referrals

Asking for referrals can be a real challenge for any business owner. It can feel uncomfortable to talk to your clients this way, especially in such a professional relationship. That said, if your clients are happy, satisfied and like your work, then they probably won’t mind!

Be proactive and ask your clients to talk about your business. Maybe you can do this through professional services like LinkedIn, or through website reviews and testimonials. Either way, this is a fantastic way to boost the credibility of your business and help get you more clients. Word of mouth is a powerful thing, after all!

Selling your firm’s services and finding new clients isn’t just about solving problems. It’s about genuine insights, empathy and understanding.

3. Review Technology

As a bookkeeper, you probably already understand the importance of being aware of changes in technology. This doesn’t mean that you have to jump at every trend or update, but it does mean staying aware of changes and how they can benefit your business.

Using services such as the cloud, remote working and online collaboration, then you’ll find it much easier to target and reach a larger group of clients. Focus on staying relevant and you’ll draw more like-minded clients.

4. Webinars

You’re probably familiar with using conferences to get clients, but what about online webinars? By contributing and creating relevant content, you are more likely to attract high quality clients who respect you and what you do.

Consider being a guest on a webinar or podcast, or create your own. It’s a great way to offer real value and find new clients.

5. Social Media

Social media is so valuable for finding new clients online, and for really making your presence known. Consider running ads on popular social media platforms, or just creating engaging content that your audience will love. This is where knowing your niche is super helpful.

This also extends to your website (try starting a blog), as well as all aspects of your online presence. If people know you’re out there, and see you as knowledgeable, they are much more likely to work with you.

Amy Hooke and her team at The Savvy Bookkeeper have been invaluable to my business especially with helping me change from hourly billing, to offering packages. I also currently attend Co-working Groups which are for 'working on my business'. It's a really supportive and encouraging group, where we can brainstorm ideas, and work on things like streamlining of my business processes. For any bookkeeper looking for assistance in these areas, I recommend The Savvy Bookkeeper.
