by | 26 April, 2021 | 0 comments

Now more than ever there are thousands of websites and programs enabling you to conduct business and connect with stakeholders online. Likewise, when it comes to hiring staff, there is a huge selection of platforms available for consideration and for many business owners, the choice can be confusing.

In a digital world, jobseekers no longer search in the local newspaper. Almost all jobs are now searched and applied for online. So when it comes to expanding your team, not only is it important to be across the best online hiring platforms to use, but also to understand which are going to give you the greatest success for the particular role you’re hiring for.

Read ahead as we share the Top 7 online platforms for hiring an Australian Bookkeeper. We’ll also explore the most important aspects to consider when choosing a platform for advertising a role and share which one we use so successfully and why.

Considerations when choosing a hiring platform

It’s the ultimate question – where do I start? When looking for the right platform to advertise a role for a bookkeeper, there are a number of considerations that should be made. Whilst there are many online hiring platforms that are visited by thousands of Australian’s daily, it’s important to understand which are going to serve you best for the purpose.

In your search for the perfect bookkeeping employee for your business, there are some key questions you should be asking yourself when considering the best online job search website to use.

Firstly, ‘Are there bookkeepers on this platform looking for work?’ It’s extremely important to ensure that before you start advertising, you are doing so on a platform that will guarantee the largest pool of potential candidates for the role. Once you’ve put together the job description and are ready to advertise, it is worth doing some research and networking with others in your industry.

In learning which platforms are being used by bookkeepers, you’ll know exactly where to take your candidate search from the start, saving you time and a potential headache in the long run!

It’s also important to be aware that some online job search websites are tailored towards attracting particular job types. For example, Gumtree and Airtasker are more suited to trades and apprentices, whereas LinkedIn and much of Seek are most often used by white collar workers and popular with bookkeepers.

Another important question to ask yourself when choosing a platform is ‘Is the platform reputable amongst recruiters and hiring agencies?’ There’s nothing worse than posting a job advertisement only to receive a huge list of ‘dud’ candidates. And if you were to hire one of those candidates, not only are they going to waste your time, but potentially cause damage to your business.

By ensuring that you advertise on a reputable platform that is used by other recruitment professionals, you can be sure that your role will attract legitimate candidates with the best intentions for your business. In today’s world, scammers are rife. So remember, advertising on a reputable platform is extremely important. Secondly, always ensure that you carefully work through your applications. Knowing the red flags are key!

Online reviews and word of mouth are also gold when it comes to purchasing or using a good service. Once you’ve made a shortlist of the job search website you are interested in,  obtaining information and advice from those in your industry who have used them from experience should make your final decision easy. There’s nothing better than getting first hand advice from those who have tested and trialled!
