Welcome to The Savvy Bookkeeper!
I’m Amy Hooke, the founder of The Savvy Bookkeeper, and Business Mentor who helps smart bookkeepers become “business savvy bookkeepers”.
In my experience, being smart is about intelligence and being savvy is about wisdom.
When I started my bookkeeping business the first time, I was a smart bookkeeper, but I wasn’t ‘business savvy‘ bookkeeper.
My bookkeeping experience was at a high level with almost two decades under my belt at the time. But I didn’t realise that I was a total beginner when it came to managing client relationships, hiring the right staff and doing all the right things to ensure the business was efficient, professional and profitable.
Eventually, the stress wasn’t worth it, and I quit. But I didn’t give up!
A few years later, through many more trials and errors, I finally figured out the missing pieces of the puzzle– and with a renewed vision and having learned from my multitude of mistakes, I restarted my bookkeeping business the way I wished I’d known about the first time.
Since day one, I’ve recorded and documented my journey, and have created many resources along the way. The Savvy Bookkeeper is one of the ways I love to share my knowledge with my colleagues in the industry, to establish professional, profitable online bookkeeping businesses that can run without.
Most bookkeepers I’ve known over the years work hard but often don’t feel rewarded or respected for the work they do. I believe bookkeepers are pillars of our society, as they play a large part in the financial health of small businesses. Small businesses create employment opportunities and income for families across the world, and by supporting bookkeepers we can make a difference to many.
Since 2018 Savvy has helped 600+ bookkeepers to become better at the business of bookkeeping, and since 2019 the Bookkeeping Business Podcast has reached 10,000’s bookkeepers across more than 20 countries around the world.
